With a goal of creating a public space that encouraged conversations with guests, the client wanted to reconfigure and expand their old space to create a new, contemporary chef's kitchen. Eliminating a jog in the old layout and removing a partition wall allowed for an exciting, open concept design. An expansive new window above the sink, which was free of upper cabinets on either side, highlighted the dramatic treetop views and created a new sense of openness. Additional new cabinets were seamlessly extended into the breakfast nook for greater storage, and the bar area facing the Living Room was expanded for greater comfort. The artistic, asymmetric tile backsplash complemented the Soapstone countertops and stainless European appliances, which included a high-performance induction cooktop, to create an idyllic cooking oasis.
