Travis Wirt, Founder

Featuring Black Creek Builders,
Oakland, CA

Travis Wirt is a Bay Area native and third generation contractor. He first learned to swing a hammer alongside his father, restoring the family's 1890s Queen Anne Victorian in South Berkeley, a family tradition which extends to Travis' younger brother Stan Wirt, the lead plumber for Black Creek Builders. When Travis was a little older, he got his first customer service job at Ace Ellis Hardware in Oakland, followed by his first business, a small tile company, ironically titled Franco & Sons. During the dot com boom in the late 90s, Travis worked for a software company where he started out as an intern and was ultimately promoted to database administrator. It was here that he began to hone his planning, quality control, and management skills. Next, Travis worked for a general contractor who taught him how to build spec homes from the ground up. To his growing construction experience, Travis added a new understanding about how to run a successful business by first building a highly skilled and fiercely loyal team.

Tags (What's a Tag?)

Tags are key words that are added by a service provider or homeowner when they upload a photo. They may describe anything in the photo the uploader thinks is particularly notable: a feature, a paint color, a material used, anything. We encourage you to add tags wherever something in the image has caught your eye. If you don't see many results under tags yet, you will as the site grows. Keep tagging!
