Featuring Deep Run Renovations,
Richmond, VA

Born: Shawsville, VA. Education: BS Computer Science, Virginia Tech. Fascinated with the carpentry and woodworking since high school, Gary made a difficult decision upon entering college to pursue a career in computer science rather than architecture. Despite spending most weekends in school back at his parent's house in his workshop or at Smith Mountain Lake building the family retreat and boat house, Gary stayed the course and entered into the world of computers and technology. After thirteen successful years as a technical architect and systems consultant in the DC-area, two years as the co-founder of a financial services .COM in Annapolis, and accumulating three IT-related patents for creative and innovate products in the technology arena, in 2002 Gary decided to pursue his passion of applying creativity and consumer-friendly consultation and management to the remodeling industry. Years of weekend warrior home projects, most as demanding in size and scope as any homeowner would ever contemplate undertaking, provided Gary with invaluable hands-on experience and expertise in the area of construction and remodeling. This personal remodeling expertise combined with years of succefully delivering creative solutions within a customer-oriented, project methodology make a very marketable commodity in a much-maligned remodeling/renovation industry when it comes to responsiveness, quality, and overall abiltiy to deliver. In general, the more challenging a project is, the more interested Gary is in undertaking it. Gary and his wife, Tamara, stay busy with four children and all the typical needs and activities of growing and active children. Their home is a remodling case-study in itself having already completed a breakfast room addition, a remodled kitchen, a second story master bath/suite addition, a large front porch, and all new windows, siding, and roofing. The "final" phase is a new composite deck and a screened porch. No rest for the weary! These projects also allow Gary to experiment with additional staff and contractors on his own home before he sends them out to someone else's. Gary firmly believes that no person should be sent to work in someone else's home before he has had an opportunity to review their work, communication skills, and general demeanor . . . under his own roof. His mission for Deep Run Renovations is to impart the same customer-oriented mentality and product creativity that he employed in information technology to the world of remodeling. Increasing community involvement and general market exposure are areas of significant focus in the year ahead.
