Houston, TX

A long time GHBA member, John Gillette, GMB, CGR, CAPS is owner of Craftsmanship by John Inc., a construction company specializing in remodeling. John served on the 2012 GHBA board of directors and also led the 2012 Remodelors Council as president.John has been in the construction industry, on and off, since he was 14 years old. "I started out by sweeping out houses. Due to my young age I could not be on an active construction site, but was intrigued by what I saw," says John. "One thing led to another and I started working in the summer as an apprentice laborer, carpenter and gofer. I was fortunate to learn from some true craftsman (hence the name of my company) who taught me the skills required in building a quality home from the ground up." John opened his business in 1992 as a one man operation, determined to provide the quality he was taught with attention to detail as well as the customer's needs and wants. The company has grown over the years but still holds true to its founding tenets. John has obtained a number of certifications through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) including Graduate Master Builder (GMB), Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS). He also participates in a number of charity projects and other community activities through GHBA. John is a husband to his dear wife Cyd, and a father to two wonderful children, Jackson and Ashley. As a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, he serves as an usher and is on the Stewardship Committee. In his free time, he enjoys golf, hunting, fishing, working out and mixing it up with old and new friends.

Tags (What's a Tag?)

Tags are key words that are added by a service provider or homeowner when they upload a photo. They may describe anything in the photo the uploader thinks is particularly notable: a feature, a paint color, a material used, anything. We encourage you to add tags wherever something in the image has caught your eye. If you don't see many results under tags yet, you will as the site grows. Keep tagging!
